Testimonials (Contributing Editor of Wood Digest's AWFS Show Daily)
More commonly writing
about the countertop industry, rather than actually making countertops,
when the folks at Laser Products told me they could teach me to use their
LT-55 Laser Templator in less than 15 minutes, I have to admit I was
a bit skeptical. I have made a few templates in learning the ropes of
the industry, but I did it the old fashioned way - with a tape measure
and luaun strips. Knowing that I could hardly make all of the necessary
measurements in less than 15 minutes, let alone learn a new system and
actually template a countertop, I stopped by booth 19106 to hold them
to their claims.
Let me tell you, it was no lie.
I arrived at the company's booth at 2 p.m., and
by 2:15, not only had I watched a demonstration of the laser templating system,
I had learned to use it and had actually templated a simple countertop (with
a 1-1/2 in. overhang, outside radius corners and an intersecting circular cut-out
for an imaginary stove stack).
I couldn't believe how simple it was, which made
me wonder about the accuracy. So, we broke out the ol' tape measure and, sure
enough, the measurements matched up perfectly.
With a small laser unit and a collapsible tripod,
the system is highly portable and quite simple. I was even more impressed when
I was told the template I had just made translated directly into .dxf files,
ready to run on a CNC router. The equipment also allows on the spot estimation
and the ability to quickly transfer files to a remote location via e-mail.
Now, I know I'm not an easy sell, and I suspect
you aren't either. So, don't take my word for it. You may just need to check
it out for yourself.
